We have a newly constructed energy star rated contemporary home facing true south. Over 150 square feet of south facing glass overlooks a semi-formal flower garden. Our newly added 5kW Photovoltaic system supplies all of our electricity needs, but is discretely sited on the back roof where it is not readily visible. Extensive use of ceramic tile adds heat-absorbing mass, as do the granite counters. Extensive use of LED lighting, as well as compact fluorescent lighting and timers contribute to an annual electricity consumption of under 5000 kWh. If you love details, the photovoltaic system is continuously monitored during operation, and we have a large number of charts that show how the system has performed, how we use electricity, plus much more information.

From I-490, take Exit 4 (259 Union Street) and go south on Union Street. If you are traveling west, this will be a left turn onto Union Street from the ramp (right turn if traveling east). Travel straight through the light crossing Chili Avenue (route 33A). Take the second left onto Union Station Road. Then take your first right onto Reading Road.
